Wellness Policy

Aug. 02 2013

To Whom It May Concern:

The following is the Board-approved wellness policy, adopted by the Rabbinical Yeshiva of Cincinnati. This wellness policy was put together at a public meeting which included the school board, school staff and volunteers and general community members.

At our institution, we take health and wellness very serious. We follow the ruling of the Jewish codifier and philosopher Maimonidies , who says that taking care of one’s physical health is a commandment from G-d Almighty Himself. The founder of the Chassidic movement, Rabbi Yisrael Baal Shem Tov, says that “a hole in the body is a hole in the soul!”.

The board has decided to go into contract with the local gym and the Jewish community Center, to ensure that all students will be able to have supervised physical activity and development. In the gym, the boys are directed by professional trainers who guide and advise and monitor the continued well-being of the students.

The trainers give guided nutrition development and implementation. They set the necessary goals in nutritional growth and well-being. These goals include – but not limited to - a healthy diet and a plan of how to keep all boys at a healthy weight. If a boy is overweight, they give him a program of exercises and healthy eating patterns. In addition, the board has authorized the staff to bring in guest lecturers and Doctors to speak about general health and the dangers of teenage Alcohol and substance abuse.

We encourage our students to keep to the meal plan that is approved by the USDA and not to add in sugar beverages and other non-healthy foods. We encourage physical activities (sports etc) in a supervised and constructive way. The school is working with the local agencies to create programs that enhance safety, health and wellness.

We pray for the Messianic era, in which our sages describe: “In that era, there will be neither famine or war, envy or competition for good will flow in abundance and all the delights will be freely available as dust. The occupation of the entire world will be solely to know God."

Rabbinical Yeshiva of Cincinnati admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe MH"M says: "Moshiach is ready to come now, it is only from our part, to do something additional in the realm of goodness and kindness".
